Chris Branagan

Chris Branagan enjoys a diverse career as a trombonist, conductor, and committed educator. Prior to joining The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" in Washington, DC, he held adjunct professor positions at two universities in Texas, as well as positions with the San Antonio Symphony and Austin Lyric Opera Orchestra. He has performed throughout the U.S. and abroad with groups like the National Philharmonic (Washington, DC), Baltimore Opera, Santa Fe Pro Musica, Washington National Opera, and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. In addition to his current role as Public Relations Manager of The U.S. Army Band, Chris serves as the Assistant Chairman of the Eastern Trombone Workshop, the largest annual event of its kind, hosted by "Pershing's Own." An active conductor and advocate for new music, he made his Kennedy Center conducting debut in February of 2011 with the Pershing's Own Contemporary Music Ensemble. He serves as assistant director and resident conductor of Washington Trombone Ensemble, most recently leading WTE in the group's debut recording, set for release later this year.
